How to administer
Point to the student word sheet and say:
"Today you are going to read some words aloud. Some are real words and some are nonsense words. For nonsense words, look at the letters and sounds, then read the word exactly as it is written."
Scoring: Tap a word only if the student makes a miscue. Type what the student said as closely as you can, or choose "Skipped / did not know" if there was no attempt.
Important: Do not correct the student during the check. Move to the next word and use the results to plan instruction after the check.
